When to Sow 'Boy O Boy Mixed' Marigold Seeds

February to April

Where to Sow

Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a propagator or in a warm place and keep at a temperature of between 21-25°C (70-75°F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination which usually takes 7-21 days.

What to do Next

When the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12") apart in well drained soil in full sun.

Handy Tip

For a later show of flowers, sow direct in the flowering site in May, and thin to 20cm (8") apart as seedlings appear. Dead head regularly to provide a summer-long display.
